Icy conditions on rural roads are leading to more school closures Monday after a winter storm system dumped snow on Nashville and areas of Middle Tennessee over the weekend.
Nearly 6 inches of snowfall was recorded in Middle Tennessee after a winter storm brought significant snow accumulation to the region Friday.
Flights were canceled and businesses and schools closed Friday as kids played outdoors, building snowmen and sledding on everything from an inflatable dinosaur to other unique finds around the house.

Roads and yards were blanketed in snow. Snow that continues to create hazardous conditions on rural roads in areas of Middle Tennessee driven by school buses and car-riders daily.
Leading several school districts to either delay or cancel school entirely on Monday.

Cheatham County Schools
The Cheatham County School District will be on a two-hour delay Monday, school officials announced on Facebook.
School will begin at 9:45 a.m. and buses will run two hours late, the release said.
Extended daycares will open at 7 a.m.
Dickson County Schools
Due to several back roads still being covered with snow and ice, Dickson County Schools will be closed Monday, school officials announced on Facebook.
Extended care sites at Oakmont Elementary and Stuart Burns Elementary will open at 7 a.m., the release said.
Other extended care sites will be closed Monday.
Robertson County Schools
Robertson County Schools Director Danny Weeks informed parents that schools would be closed Monday in a recorded phone call Sunday due to continuing icy conditions on some county roads.
Daycares and the central office will be open during normal hours.
Wilson County Schools
Wilson County Schools will be closed Monday, school officials announced on Facebook.
“While many roads throughout the county are clear and dry following our weekend winter storm, we have discovered several rural roads (that are traveled daily by our buses, employees and families) that remain very hazardous,” the school district shared in a Facebook post Sunday.
Impacted roads are confined mostly to the eastern part of the county and the Watertown area, the release said.
“Aside from that, we have high concerns about re-freezing areas on roads in other parts of the county, especially overpasses, that experienced snow melt today.”
Though school will be closed Monday, Kids Club will remain open and operate on its inclement weather site plan.
The ATC will be open as well.
Further updates will be provided Monday by district officials.
More information about extracurricular activities will be shared Monday morning and a school closure update for Tuesday, Jan. 14 will be provided in the late afternoon on Monday, around 4:30 p.m.
Sumner County Schools will be open and operating on regular schedules Monday, school officials announced on Facebook.
School closings were not available for Clarksville-Montgomery County School System, Metro Nashville Public Schools, Rutherford County Schools and Williamson County Schools at the time of publication.
