School officials confirmed that an incident outside Carver Vocational-Technical High School on Thursday afternoon sent students and a staff member to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“Around 2:35 p.m., two people attacked a student outside Carver Vocational-Technical High School. During the attack, the suspects, the victim, and a staff member who responded to the incident were injured,” according to a statement from Sherry Christian, city schools spokeswoman earlier Thursday.
The Baltimore Police Department and Baltimore City Public Schools police are investigating the incident, Christian said.
A letter sent home with students obtained by The Baltimore Sun says two students and one staff member were injured by cutting during dismissal. However, police said four people were transported to the hospital total, Christian told The Baltimore Sun.
“School administration and School Police intervened swiftly, and the situation was quickly brought under control. Appropriate disciplinary action will be taken following an investigation of the incident,” Principal Craig Rivers wrote in the letter.
“At Carver, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We work daily to ensure a safe and positive environment for teaching and learning. If you have questions or concerns, please contact me directly at (410) 396-0553 or clrivers@bcps.k12.md.us. Thank you for your continued support of our school community,” he said.
