Indianapolis weather: When could snow melt? NSW says more on the way. The latest forecast

It’s a topic on everybody’s mind right now. When is the snow and ice going to melt?

Well, first, Indy will have to get through the snow coming Tuesday, according to the updated forecast from the National Weather Service for Indianapolis. Snow is likely to fall tomorrow and is predicted to start around 7 a.m. before stopping 12 hours later.

Accumulation can reach up to half an inch on the already-mounted snow and ice around the city. After that temperatures are set to be freezing throughout the week, before warming up a bit by the end of the week.

The high is going to hit freezing throughout the day Thursday. So, when can we see a little of that melt?

NWS Indianapolis said we could see a dent piles of snow by Friday, even with freezing temperatures leading up to the end of the week.

“You’re going to see some melting on Friday. Especially with the sun being a little bit out and it’s above freezing temperatures,” Meteorologist Cody Moore told IndyStar. “But it looks like this weekend we could see cold temperatures return next week and more snow.”

With parts of the state having 6-12 inches of snow on the ground, Moore said there’s no telling when snowpacks will noticeably melt in Central Indiana.

Here’s what you can expect for Indianapolis this week.

The coldest days of the week

Moore said Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be the coldest days of the week.
