An Indianapolis woman is now facing several charges after police say she forced another woman from a home and drove her to Marion County.
Ashton D. Allen, 27, is now facing formal charges of kidnapping, a level 3 felony; criminal confinement, a level 3 felony; and domestic battery with a firearm, a level 5 felony, for her alleged connection to the case, according to court documents.
It was around 11 a.m. Monday when KPD responded to a residence on a reported domestic disturbance where one party was alleged to have been held against her will, per a probable cause affidavit filed through the Howard County Clerk’s Office.
When officers arrived on scene, the residence was empty, but friends and family reportedly told police that Allen had forced the alleged victim in the case from the home prior to leaving in a vehicle, court documents allege.
At the residence, per court documents, investigators did locate signs of a physical altercation, as well as an empty gun holster on a counter and a butcher knife on a TV console.
A wheel of the alleged victim’s vehicle also appeared to be slashed with a knife, court documents indicated.
As part of the initial investigation, officers also spoke to the ex-wife of the alleged victim, who reportedly told police she had been getting text messages from her ex-wife indicating Allen was “threatening her (the alleged victim) with a gun,” and “threatening to kill her,” per court documents.
Within a few hours, investigators — with the assistance of the Indianapolis FBI Safe Streets Task Force — located Allen and the alleged victim inside a vehicle in Marion County.
The alleged victim — who authorities stated suffered minor injuries — was safely removed from that vehicle, and Allen was taken into police custody without incident.
During a subsequent interview with police, the alleged victim told investigators she had been battered by Allen and that Allen also reportedly “pointed a gun” at her, court documents note.
The woman also told police she was in “fear for her safety” and didn’t think she had a choice but to leave Howard County with Allen.
The alleged victim was then transported back to Kokomo and released to family.
Police say Allen was transported to the Howard County Jail and is booked on a $1,500 surety bond.
An initial hearing is pending.
