Jan. 13-17: Topics planned for local municipal meetings — and how to attend

HOLLAND — In 2025, The Sentinel is providing a weekly round-up of the biggest topics in upcoming municipal meetings, giving our readers a chance to engage with their local officials on the projects, appointments and decisions that hit closest to home.

These round-ups are written on Fridays, and will not include an agenda if one hasn’t been posted. Municipalities are not required by the Michigan Open Meetings Act to provide an agenda in advance of a meeting, but they are required to provide notice. Please visit your local municipality website for the most updated information.

Here are the biggest topics for meetings Monday-Friday, Jan. 13-17:

Ottawa County

Board of Commissioners Special Meeting: 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Ottawa County Fillmore Street Complex

  • The purpose of the meeting is to approve and adopt the rules of the Ottawa County Board, as discussed and amended Tuesday, Jan. 7.

Planning and Policy Committee: 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Ottawa County Fillmore Street Complex

  • An agenda was not immediately available, but meeting dates for the committee are listed as Jan. 14, Feb. 11, March 11, April 8, May 13, June 10, July 8, Aug. 12, Sept. 9, Oct. 14, Nov. 11 and Dec. 9. The committee is expected to discuss changes to the county’s invocation policy.

Commission on Aging: 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the Allegan County Human Services Building

  • A discussion of senior health needs in Allegan County, which will inform a Community Health Needs Assessment.
