Dec. 10—CORBIN — On Saturday, KCEOC Community Action Partnership celebrated its 60th anniversary with a formal event recognizing individuals and organizations for their contributions to the community. The evening featured live music, a catered dinner, and an awards ceremony to honor those who have demonstrated exceptional service and dedication.
KCEOC, a nonprofit organization, has been a cornerstone of support in southeastern Kentucky since its founding in 1964. Focused on reducing poverty and creating opportunities, KCEOC provides a range of services, including housing assistance, educational programs, workforce development, and family support, all aimed at improving the quality of life for individuals and families in the region.
The event began with a welcome from KCEOC President and CEO Paul D. Dole, who highlighted the organization’s decades-long commitment to improving lives through community partnerships.
“Tonight, we’re here to recognize folks, eat, and have fun,” Dole said in his speech, welcoming guests to the event.
Rev. Jimmy Siler delivered the invocation before guests enjoyed a meal prepared by Bayou Bluegrass Catering. Live music was provided by a local band, The Blue Crawdads, during the cocktail hour.
A highlight of the evening was a performance by award-winning comedian Joe Deuce, who brought laughter to the room with his engaging humor and quick wit.
Known for his high-energy delivery and relatable storytelling, Deuce has performed on stages across the country and aboard cruises, and has earned a reputation as a crowd favorite at comedy festivals and events. His performance added a lighthearted touch to the evening, ensuring it was a memorable occasion for all in attendance.
The awards ceremony then shifted the focus to notable achievements in philanthropy and community service.
The Forcht Group received the 2024 Philanthropic Organization of the Year award for its significant support and dedication to the community.
Dr. Tyler Carter was named 2024 Philanthropist of the Year for his efforts to improve the lives of others through his work.
State Representative Tom O’Dell Smith (R-Corbin) was honored with the 2024 Burchel Sizemore Above and Beyond Award for his dedication and service, a recognition of his commitment to making a difference in the community.
Legacy Awards celebrating 50 years of service were presented to Paul D. Dole and Michelle Johnson, highlighting their enduring impact on the region.
In regards to Dole, Chairman of the Board for KCEOC Community Action Partnership and Knox County Circuit Court Clerk Greg Helton, stated, “Paul has made countless improvements to our state, all while leading by example. Our service areas include the highest in poverty in the country, but we are running an award winning program at KCEOC. This was by no accident. It was the intentional, particular, and innovative pursuit led by Paul Dole.”
The event concluded with a champagne toast to mark six decades of KCEOC’s work in the community.
