School districts across East Tennessee are closing in preparation for the snowstorm on Friday, Jan. 10.
The storm is expected to drop several inches of fresh powder across the region. Knoxville is forecast to see 4-6 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service. The entire region will be under a winter storm warning through Saturday morning.
Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous due to the inclement weather, according to the National Weather Service.

What does NTI stand for?
For Kentucky schools, the acronym “NTI” accompanies the closure announcement, which stands for “non-tradition instruction.” Using technology, this program allows for the “continuation of learning on days when the entire district is closed due to health or safety reasons,” according to the Kentucky Department of Education.
