Knoxville man arrested in Nashville, charged with murder after Washington Pike shooting

A Knoxville man who was arrested in Nashville is set to be sent back to Knoxville to face a murder charge related to a Dec. 19 shooting.

Kevin Martinez, 21, was taken into custody by Metro Nashville Police Department officers as he was boarding a Greyhound bus the evening of Dec. 22, according to a Knoxville Police Department news release.

Knoxville police had named Martinez as a suspect in a Dec. 19 shooting that killed Ernest Glenn, 38, of Knoxville, and injured another victim. Martinez has been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault, Scott Erland, communications manager for the Knoxville Police Department, said in the release.

Early the morning of Dec. 19, Knoxville police responding to a report of a gunshot victim found a car that had crashed into a fence in the 2900 block of Washington Pike. The driver, identified as Glenn, was unresponsive with at least one gunshot wound.

Another person wounded in the shooting had fled to North Hills Apartments to call for help, a KPD news release said.
