As multiple wildfires continue to burn across Los Angeles County, the Coachella Valley community is coming together to help the city it’s shared a deep connection with for nearly a century.
From hotels to local animal shelters, multiple desert businesses started offering discounts and free services since the Palisades Fire was first reported at 10:10 a.m. Tuesday, followed by five other destructive fires that continued to burn as of Sunday morning.
If you’re looking for ways to help fire survivors, or you’re an evacuee from Los Angeles who’s seeking shelter in the desert, read on to learn where to donate and receive resources.

Palm Springs area and Joshua Tree area restaurants offering discounted food to fire victims and firefighters
Both the Coachella Valley and the high desert are home to restaurants extending a hand this week. Read on for our latest list of eateries offering discounts to firefighters and/or Los Angeles County residents impacted by the current wildfires:

Pappy + Harriet’s: This famed Pioneertown establishment is offering 50% all food and drinks for first responders (firefighters, police, medical staff and military with valid ID) now until Jan. 17

Grand Central Palm Springs: This downtown Palm Springs restaurant is “donating portions of revenue to the American Red Cross” to support LA fire victims.

Palm Springs area hotels offering discounted rooms to fire victims, evacuees
Palm Springs is offering hotel rooms with special rates to Los Angeles County residents impacted by the Southern California wildfires.
The city and local hotels have teamed up to offer discounted rooms based on availability.
Celeste M. Brackley, a Palm Springs Hospitality Association board member, said in a statement the association wanted to be a “safe haven” for as many evacuees as possible.
“The hospitality community is coming together to help evacuees find some comfort at a discounted rate in the hopes of being good neighbors,” said Brackley, who is also a vice chair of PS Resorts. “Our hearts are with all that are worried about or have lost their homes.”
Palm Springs Mayor Ron deHarte said in a statement that he welcomed anyone affected by the fires.
“To the many who have already made their way to Palm Springs, we welcome you and hope you find peace, respite, and healing,” deHarte said.

Palm Springs area nonprofits and other businesses helping LA fire victims
The Rotary Clubs of the Coachella Valley are hosting a donation drive for Los Angeles County fire victims on Sunday, Jan. 12 at three desert locations.
There are several other businesses and nonprofits outside the hospitality sector who are pitching in as well, from gathering donations for fire victims to donating a proceed of their profits.

Iconic Atonic: This Palm Springs vintage store will donate 15% of all its January sales to animal rescue organizations supporting animals affected by the LA County fires. The store is also accepting donations of clothing and supplies that will be taken to Los Angeles shelters and other nonprofits.

Cold Nose Warm Heart: This Palm Springs pet supply store is collecting donations of blankets, towels, water, easy to open food, dog food and cat food.

The Palm Springs Animal Shelter: The shelter is providing — while supplies last — free pet supplies such as food, leashes, crates, bowls and beds to LA residents who have evacuated to the desert.

Coachella Valley Rotary Clubs: From now through 5 p.m. Sunday, the Rotary Clubs of the Coachella Valley are uniting to support those affected by the devastating fires in Los Angeles County through the All Valley Rotary Fire Relief Donation Drive. Donations are being collected at three convenient locations:
