Lara Trump announced she will step down as Republican National Committee co-chair recently in a post on X.
The announcement comes after months of rumors regarding the possibility of her being tapped to replace Florida Sen. Marco Rubio. Rubio was nominated to serve as secretary of state in President-elect Donald Trump’s upcoming administration.
“I was so humbled and honored to be even be considered for this. I know my name is being thrown out there a lot, and I would say that my experience at the RNC has really shown me, you know, serving the American people,” Lara Trump told FOX Business’ “Mornings with Maria” in November. “And if I were tapped for this, serving my home state of Florida, it’s a great honor and a great responsibility, obviously.”

Lara Trump is a North Carolina native, graduating from the University of North Carolina with a degree in communications. She was a former producer for “Inside Edition” and host of Trump Productions’ “Real News Update.”
Lara Yunaska and Eric Trump got married on Nov. 8, 2014 in a ceremony at Mar-a-Lago. The couple welcomed their first child, Luke, in 2017 and their second, Carolina, in 2019.
Eric Trump is the second son of Donald Trump and his first wife, Ivana.

Is Lara Trump involved with politics?
Lara Trump was very active in all of her father-in-law’s presidential campaigns. In 2016, she led the Trump-Pence Women’s Empowerment Tour alongside an all-women team, aiming to win over female voters in swing states.
Trump has political ambitions herself. With the former president’s support behind her, she was able to secure the position of co-chair of the Republican National Committee earlier this year.
In 2022, she was reported to have seriously considered running for a U.S. Senate seat in North Carolina before the midterm elections.

People are speculating that Lara Trump is in the running to fill the vacant Senate seat left by Rubio if he is confirmed as U.S. secretary of state by his colleagues.
Florida Sen. Rick Scott, re-elected in November, took to X to gauge support for Lara Trump.
In February, Lara Trump published “The Never-Give-Up Pup,” a children’s book about hard work and perseverance.
Sponsored by the conservative Christian publisher that produced the title, “Brave Books,” Lara Trump held an afternoon reading event at Elisabeth Lahti Library in Indiantown, in western Martin County.
