Jan. 16—As tax season looms, officers with the Kalispell Police Department found themselves tasked with coordinating the handoff of tax documents between a divorced couple. After the former husband called to see about the W-2s his ex-wife was supposed to drop off at the Police Department, authorities touched base with his one-time spouse. She told them that the W-2s had not yet arrived in the mail, but rest assured she would bring them to the department as soon as they landed in the mailbox.
Officers stickered a black Chevrolet Sonic after its owner had left it parked in the same spot for more than a week.
An alarm company contacted the police after alarms started going off in a building and a woman appeared on the surveillance video feed. Officers contacted the woman in charge of the property and learned that it was her on the video. Wearing earbuds, she did not hear the alarm go off.
Claiming to be a victim of theft, a woman told investigators that someone had stolen roughly $93,000 from her bank account. Upon talking with her, though, officers learned the individual behind the withdrawals was her business partner. She earned a police escort to the county jail while officers arranged for a tow company to pick up the SUV and deposited her dog at the animal shelter.
