For folks looking for something to do in and around Holmes County this week, here are five things to consider.

1. New volunteer orientation

Love INC

When: 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14

Where: Love INC., 1291 Massillon Road, Millersburg

What: An opportunity to see the number of ways to serve the Holmes County community by using unique talents.

2. Little Learners Playgroup

When: 11 a.m.-noon Friday, Jan. 17

Where: Holmes County District Public Library, Glen Drive, Millersburg.

What: The library will provide activities to promote reading and social skills for children up to age 5. For more information, go to: Holmeslibrary.org.

Cost: Free

3. Spaghetti dinner fundraiser

Ruth Crossan visits her father Philip while he was hooked up to a ventilator fighting for his life. A fundraising spaghetti dinner to benefit the Crossan family will be held on Friday, Jan. 17, at Clark Community Center.

When: 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17

Where: Clark Community Center, 1390 state Route 83, Millersburg

What: A fundraising spaghetti dinner to help relieve some of the financial burden the family of Philip and Denice Crossan has incurred from a devastating illness.

Cost: Donation

4. Family friendly comedy show, spaghetti dinner

When: 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18; 5-6:30 p.m. spaghetti dinner

Where: Shreve Community Church, 430 N. Main St., Shreve

What: David Dean comedy show and spaghetti dinner fundraiser to suppor the church’s Cuban mission team.

Cost: Show tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for ages 5-18 and children ages 4 and under are free; spaghetti dinner cost is $10

5. Classic in the Country Challenge XXII

Saniyah Hall gets off a jumper over a pair of Portsmouth defenders Monday at Classic in the Country. After a record-setting 43-point effort on Sunday, Hall scored 16 in a losing effort against Portsmouth.

When: Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Jan. 18-20

Where: Perry Reese Center at Hiland High School, Berlin

What: Classic in the Country Challenge XXII is three days of nonstop high school girls basketball action, featuring some of the best teams and players in the state.
