Macy’s lists 66 ‘underproductive’ stores to be closed, including these 7 in Florida

Macy’s announced Thursday it would close 66 of the company’s “non-go-forward” stores, including seven in Florida.

The “Bold New Chapter” for the company “is designed to return the company to sustainable, profitable sales growth which includes closing approximately 150 underproductive stores over a three-year period,” Macy’s said in Thursday’s announcement.

What Florida Macy’s stores are closing?

Macy’s released the locations of 66 stores slated to be closed. Seven are located in Florida. They are:

  • Boynton Beach Mall, 801 N. Congress Ave., Boynton Beach

  • Fort Lauderdale Furniture, 4501 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale

  • Pembroke Furniture, 13640 Pines Blvd., Pembroke Pines

  • South Dade Furniture, 13251 S. Dixie Highway, Miami

  • West Shore Plaza, 298 Westshore Plaza, Tampa

  • Altamonte Furniture, 820 W. Town Parkway, Altamonte Springs

  • Southgate, 3501 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota

Boca Raton Furniture, at 9339 Glades Road in Boca Raton, was included in an earlier closure announcement by Macy’s.

Macy’s to start clearance sales in January or February

The company said clearance sales at Macy’s stores will begin in January and will run for approximately 8 to12 weeks.

For Macy’s Backstage stores and Macy’s Furniture Galleries, clearance sales will begin in February and will run for approximately 6 weeks.

What to do with a Macy’s gift card?

Gift cards will not be sold at Macy’s stores that will be closing after Saturday, Jan. 11. Gift cards at Macy’s Backstage locations won’t be sold after Feb. 3.

“Gift cards can be redeemed at your closing store until it closes, and you can always redeem gift cards at macys.com, the company said.

How long can you use a Macy’s coupon?

Coupons will be accepted until Sunday, Jan. 12. For more information, “see a store colleague.”

What Macy’s stores are closing in US?

So far, Macy’s has shared 66 of the locations it plans to close. The company did not say when it would announce what other stores will close.
