A 28-year-old man died Sunday evening after being shot in the 200 block of Robert Drive, Corpus Christi police said.
Police were dispatched to the scene of the shooting at 6:18 p.m., according to a news release published by senior officer Travis Pace. When officers arrived, they found Corpus Christi Fire Department personnel giving first aid to the victim.
The man was taken to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries.
Preliminary information indicates that several people met at the location. For reasons currently unknown, the encounter escalated, resulting in the victim being shot, the news release said.
The other people involved fled the scene in an unidentified vehicle. Police believe the offenders and the victim knew each other and that the shooting was not a random act of violence.
Asked Monday morning whether police had made any arrests in connection with the shooting, senior officer Jennifer Collier said there were no updates in the case.
This is an active investigation. Anyone with information about the incident should contact Corpus Christi police detectives at 361-886-2849. To make an anonymous tip, contact Crime Stoppers at 888-TIPS (8477) or submit a form online.
