Dec. 9—LIMA — A man was offered a plea deal Monday in his case dealing with aggravated robbery and felonious assault.
The deal in the Allen County Common Pleas Court, , which expires Dec. 16, would have Rashad Roberson plead guilty to the first-degree robbery charge and the second-degree assault charge would be dismissed. The agreed prison sentence would be seven years.
A jury trial for the case is still set to begin Jan. 7.
According to court documents, the charges originated from an incident June 27 when officers were dispatched to the area of McKibben and Elizabeth streets due to a man with a stab wound. Roberson allegedly assaulted the man with a knife when he tried to steal the man’s cell phone.
Two people witnessed the incident and saw the knife in Roberson’s hand. Roberson reportedly later admitted to the incident.
Roberson is currently being held in the Allen County Jail on a $200,000 bond.
