Man arrested in pursuit of stolen semitruck, Butler County sheriff says

A stolen semitruck sent law enforcement on a chase across Butler and Preble County Saturday afternoon.

Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones shared a video on X detailing the pursuit which began at 12:47 p.m.

Jones said in his X post that 37-year-old Joseph Allen Horton was arrested after a “multi-jurisdictional pursuit.”

Horton is charged with third-degree felony failure to comply and fourth-degree felony receiving stolen property, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Reportedly, C-Jams Trucking Company discovered that one of their 2013 Kenworth semi-trucks was missing.

When the trucking company began tracking the semitruck, they discovered it was exiting Interstate 75 near Middletown, where the Butler County Sheriff’s Office says the pursuit began.

The sheriff’s office said Horton traveled through multiple cities and jurisdictions while he attempted to thwart the pursuit by throwing hammers and tools out of the window onto pursuing officers.

The pursuit came to an end after the semitruck hit stop sticks, causing it to run off the road at the third streetextension just north of Black Street in Hamilton, the release said.

The chase lasted nearly 1 ⅟₂ hours.

Currently, all of Horton’s charges are through Butler County, with more pending from Middletown, Trenton and Preble County, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
