Man dead in central Phoenix after suspected argument turns violent

A man is dead after an argument turned violent on Monday evening in central Phoenix.

At about 5 p.m., officers with the Phoenix Police Department were called to investigate a shooting near 19th and Glendale Avenues.

Officers at the scene found 35-year-old Keshawn Stewart with “at least one gunshot wound,” according to Sgt. Rob Schere.

Stewart was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Details remained limited as homicide detectives assumed the investigation of the shooting and death of Stewart.

“Preliminary information suggests that Stewart was in an argument with an unknown person which may have led to the shooting,” Scherer added.
