A man was killed in a stabbing during a domestic violence incident early Sunday morning at a home on the West Side, an El Paso police spokesman said.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he died, after police officers responded to a family violence call shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, at a house in the 5800 block of Beaumont Place next to Fremont Lane, police spokesman Officer Adrian Cisneros said.
The 40-year-old man died at a hospital. One person had been detained for questioning as an investigation by detectives with the Crimes Against Persons Unit continued Sunday, Cisneros said.

Homicide detectives and crime-scene investigators were at the house on Sunday as Beaumont Place was blocked off by crime-scene tape with the police mobile command vehicle parked on the street.
The address is in the Cresmont neighborhood, off of North Mesa Street between South Mesa Hills Drive and Sunland Park Drive.
How many murders were there in El Paso in 2024?
The stabbing on Beaumont Place is the second homicide of 2025 following a stabbing that killed a 17-year-old boy and wounded a woman on New Year’s Day at a home on Hollyhock Drive in Northeast El Paso. That case remains under investigation.
There were 20 murders in El Paso in all of 2024 compared with 33 a year prior in 2023, Cisneros said. The murder tally does not include cases that were deemed justifiable homicides.
