Man facing arson charge, accused of throwing bottle bomb at vehicle in Lawrence Township

LAWRENCE TWP. ‒ A 28-year-old man was arrested Friday on an arson charge accusing him of throwing a Molotov cocktail at a vehicle and fleeing.

Township police announced on their Facebook page that they were called Friday morning to the 6200 block of Erie Avenue for a vehicle on fire.

“A very observant neighbor was able to provide an excellent description of the vehicle and the suspect,” the department said in its post. “This led to officers quickly locating the suspect in Clinton where he was taken into custody.”

The Canal Fulton Fire Department, Canal Fulton Police Department, Regional Emergency Dispatch Center, Jackson Township Fire Department and New Franklin Police Department assisted.

The man remained in the Stark County Jail on Saturday.
