News Center 7′s Malik Patterson learned more about how Dayton’s flock camera system helped police catch the man.
TRENDING STORIES:
From Dec. 3rd to 15th, Dayton police were tracking down Timothy Farr. According to police, Farr stole hundreds of dollars from convenience store and gas station cash registers.
Police used the city’s flock cameras to track the license plate of a red Taurus. The license plate was picked up close to the locations of the crimes.
Police were able to conduct a traffic stop on a red Taurus on Dec. 16. According to police, Farr was in the passenger’s seat wearing the same outfit described in the robberies. Police claim Farr also had a 9mm pistol in his waistband.
Officers have indicted Farr on 24 counts, 12 counts of interfering with commerce by threats or violence and 12 counts of using a firearm during a crime of violence.
Some Dayton residents are thankful for the flock cameras and the way they assist law enforcement.
“That’s helpful, because if they didn’t have those, they wouldn’t know who did it. They wouldn’t catch the guys,” Jeanvier Amani said.
Others are more wary of the cameras.
“We don’t need [any] more targets,” Stefannie Hunter said. “We don’t need to be caught up with little tapes. We know how to obey the law.”
