Man killed in shooting on Columbus’ Southeast Side

A man was killed in a shooting possibly related to a robbery Saturday night, Columbus police said.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the intersection of Aplin Drive and Penton Street on Columbus’ Southeast Side at 8:40 p.m. Saturday. Police found Vance Stiers, 21, suffering from a gunshot wound, according to a news release.

Stiers was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead at 9:52 p.m.

Police believe the shooting occurred nearby on the 7100 block of Tussing Road, according to a news release. Robbery could be “a possible motive,” according to police.
