Man seriously injured at Sydney beach party

A man has been rushed to hospital after being seriously injured at a Christmas Day beach party.

The man in his 20s slipped and fell onto concrete while jumping into Bronte Beach’s ocean pool on Wednesday.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at about 4.30pm following reports he had been injured.The man was treated by the side of the pool by paramedics, with a specialist medical team arriving in a helicopter at nearby Calga Reserve.

NSW Police confirmed the man has been taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a serious condition.

Police are speaking with witnesses at the scene.

NSW Police, paramedics and firefighters attended the beach where thousands of locals and visitors have been celebrating Christmas.

The party has included DJs playing music on the parkland while police patrol crowds on horseback.

NSW Police said they would maintain a visible presence after residents slammed last year’s iteration of the event as the “worst ever” and “disgusting”, one of whom said it was “worse than a third world country”.
