RIDGEWAY TWP. — A Wayne County man is being treated for a gunshot wound after he entered a Ridgeway Township home and assaulted the homeowner Tuesday evening.
Lenawee County sheriff’s deputies and other law enforcement personnel responded to a report of a shooting at about 6 p.m. Tuesday to the 8000 block of East M-50 in Ridgeway Township, Sheriff Troy Bevier reported Wednesday. Deputies learned that the 50-year-old homeowner fired a gun at a 34-year-old man from Van Buren Township who had let himself into the residence and began assaulting the homeowner.
Prior to the deputies’ arrival, the man who was wounded fled the area in a vehicle, a news release said. He was later located at a Toledo-area hospital where he is being treated for a single gunshot wound to the abdomen and is in critical but stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing and deputies are awaiting additional information from all of the individuals involved. This is an isolated incident, and there are no further threats to the public, the release said.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Tecumseh Police Department and Michigan State Police.
