The charges stem from an incident on Dec. 27, 2024, when Wilmington Police Department officers observed a person in the area of 14th and Nun streets riding a bike while wearing a ski mask around 11:30 p.m., according to a prior news release from Wilmington police. Law enforcement identified the man as Wilson.
When he noticed the officers, Wilson jumped from his bike and ran on foot, according to the prior release. As he was running, officers noticed a gun in his hand and pursued him.
Wilson allegedly began to turn around with the gun and a Wilmington police officer fired shots, striking him.
Immediately following the incident, Wilmington police said Wilson was in serious but stable condition.
