A man was shot Saturday morning in an attempted robbery in Reading, according to city police.
Reading police gave this account of the incident, which took place at about 5:20 a.m.:
The victim arrived at Reading Hospital with a gunshot wound. The victim told police he was walking near Ninth and Spring streets when an unknown man approached him, pointed a gun and attempted to rob him.
During the confrontation, the victim attempted to disarm the suspect and, in the process, sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
The victim and the suspect fled after the incident. The victim was then transported to the hospital for treatment.
The investigation is ongoing. Further information was unavailable Monday.
