Jan. 16—tazewell, va. — A Tazewell County man will be spending multiple life terms in prison with no chance for parole after being sentenced on felonies including aggravated sexual battery of a child under the age of 13, the Tazewell County Commonwealth’s Attorney announced Wednesday.

Jackie Lee McGlothlin, 47, of Raven, Va. was sentenced in Tazewell County Circuit Court by Judge Richard Patterson on charges including one count of aggravated sexual battery of a child under the age of 13; and one count of rape of a child under 13 years of age; three counts of forcible sodomy of a child under 13; and one count of object sexual penetration of a child under 13, said J. Christopher Plaster, Tazewell County Commonwealth’s Attorney.

McGlothlin, who was sentenced in Nov. 7, 2024, received five life terms plus an additional 20 years to serve in the Virginia Department of Corrections with no option for parole, Plaster said.

The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case with Detective Michelle Conklin leading the investigation. The Tazewell County Victim/Witness Assistance Program provided crucial support throughout the process. April Morefield and the Care Center of Southwest Virginia and Ultra Health were instrumental in this conviction, Plaster said. Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Kati Asbury, with the assistance of Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Gabrielle de Courcy, prosecuted this case.

“I am grateful for the outcome and am proud of the courage and the bravery the victim in this case showed. I am also thankful to all of the agencies that helped bring this case to a close,” Asbury said.
