Marco Island man, repeat offender, sentenced to 18 years in prison for drug charges

A Marco Island man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after being found guilty on several drug cases in Collier County.

Nicholas Munson Troemner, 42, was charged as a habitual felony offender and must also serve five years of his sentence as a prison releasee reoffender, according to the Office of the State Attorney Twentieth Judicial Circuit.

In March 2023, a Collier County deputy stopped Troemner for two traffic violations — an improper right-hand turn and a stop sign violation. The officer noticed a knife concealed in a waistband holster worn by Troemner and found probable cause to arrest him, according to an arrest report.

Upon conducting a vehicle inventory, a deputy found a machete, hunting knife, cocaine, marijuana and methamphetamine.

Prior to the 2023 arrest, Troemner was also arrested in July 2022 after the Marco Island Police Department launched a 3-month undercover investigation into him.

Troemner sold a trafficking amount — more than 80 grams — of suspect cocaine fentanyl mixture to an undercover officer as part of the investigation. He was then later served with an arrest warrant for charges including possession of controlled substances, possession of firearms and trafficking in cocaine, according to the booking sheet of the July 2022 arrest.
