Medway High School senior selected to sing in elite regional choir. What to know

MEDWAY — Medway High School senior Nora Keavany has been selected to perform in the National Association for Music Education’s All-Eastern Treble Choir, school officials announced in a press release.

The choir is part of the Eastern Division Honor Ensembles, which convene every two years and include student musicians from 11 northeastern states and Washington, D.C.

Medway school officials said Keavany will join 127 other vocalists at the NAfME Eastern Division Conference and Honors Ensemble Festival, scheduled for April 24-27 at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford. The Treble Choir will perform at 11 a.m. on April 27 at The Bushnell Performing Arts Center.

Medway High School senior Nora Keavany has been selected to sing in the 2025 National Association of Music Education All-Eastern Treble Choir this spring.

To qualify for the Eastern Division Honor Ensembles, students must first earn (through auditions) a place in their state’s district and all-state ensembles. Highest-scoring performers are nominated and selected to represent their schools and states at the All-Eastern level, where they collaborate and perform with accomplished peers.

In addition to the Treble Choir, the 2025 NAfME Eastern Division Honor Ensembles feature a diverse range of ensembles, including a 199-member mixed chorus; a 146-person concert band; a 19-player jazz band; a 14-person modern band; and a 104-musician orchestra.

At Medway High, Keavany is active in both the performing arts and athletics. She has the lead role of Jack Kelly in the school’s production of the Broadway musical “Newsies” in March. She also plays on the school’s lacrosse team.

“Nora embodies the spirit of a scholar-athlete and artist,” said Medway High Principal John Murray, in a prepared statement.

Amanda Webster, performing arts coordinator for Medway Public Schools, praised Keavany’s dedication and achievements in music.

“Nora’s selection is a reflection of her exceptional dedication, hard work and achievements in music,” Webster said in a statement. “She has been a dedicated member of the Medway High School music program, contributing to multiple ensembles and consistently demonstrating excellence in her work.”
