Mets acquire minor league RHP Sean Harney from Rays

The Mets have acquired minor league RHP Sean Harney from the Rays in exchange for international bonus pool money.

Harney finished last season with the Double-A Montgomery Biscuits.

He was originally selected in the eighth round of the 2022 MLB Draft out of Kentucky.

He served as a starter during his early college days, but transitioned into more of a swing-man role after transferring — and became the only player in program history to record six saves and six starts in a single season.

Harney’s role has stayed the same since taking his game to the next level, and he’s pitched relatively well.

The 26-year-old has posted a 3.90 ERA and 1.17 WHIP across 63 minor league appearances (17 starts).
