About 200 volunteers recently gathered at a Middleburg church to pack about 30,000 meals for children facing food insecurity.
The event was sponsored by True Life Church and Hunger Fight, a Jacksonville-based nonprofit that works to eliminate hunger through meal-packing events, education and community outreach programs.
“It’s a privilege to work alongside Hunger Fight and our incredible volunteers to provide meals to the children of Clay County,” said Billy Register, lead pastor of True Life Church.
A joyful volunteer pauses from meal-packing at an outreach event at a Middleburg church. About 200 volunteers packed meals for low-income children and families.
The packed meals will be delivered to federally designated Title 1 schools in Clay County, where they will be distributed to children and families who are most at risk of hunger. The Title 1 program serves schools with high percentages of children from low-income families.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support of True Life Church and the tremendous number of volunteers who participated,” said Michael Gant, area development director for Hunger Fight.
