MIDDLETOWN – A crash in the Lincroft neighborhood earlier this week is under further investigation after one driver died while receiving treatment.
Elizabeth Hannaway, 95, was involved in a two-vehicle crash on the morning of Dec. 30 on Newman Springs Road at Spring Garden Road, Deputy Police Chief Paul Bailey said in a statement.
Hannaway complained of pain and was taken to Hackensack Meridian Health Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank.

Police later learned that Hannaway died while receiving treatment in the hospital. Police are now investigating the actual cause of death and if the crash, or any injuries sustained during the crash, were contributing factors, Bailey said.
