Jan. 15—The Midland Vet Center, formerly at 4400 Midland Drive, has relocated to 4001 W. Illinois Ave., increasing access to services for eligible veterans, service members, including members of the National Guard and reserve components, and their families.
The public is invited to attend an open house from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 29 to see the new location, learn about available services at the Midland Vet Center, and meet the staff. The event also features refreshments and a short, dedication ceremony at 4 p.m.
Operated the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Vet Centers offer confidential help for veterans, service members, and their families at no cost in a non-medical setting. Services include counseling for needs such as depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, and the psychological effects of military sexual trauma. The Midland Vet Center can also connect individuals with more support in VA and the community.
“We look forward to continuing to serve our current clients in this new space, and inviting others to find safety, comfort and healing here,” Artley F. Edwards, Midland Vet Center director, said in a news release.
Confidential readjustment counseling services are provided nationwide at 300 Vet Centers, 83 mobile Vet Centers, numerous outstations, and community access points as well as 24/7 through the Vet Center Call Center. More than 2,000 staff are ready to assist eligible veterans, active duty service members and their families with a wide range of services, ranging from socioeconomic concerns to dealing with the trauma associated with war, sexual assault, and psychological injury.
