FOND DU LAC COUNTY – An early morning police pursuit led to the arrest of a Milwaukee man Dec. 9.
At about 4:15 a.m. Monday, a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office deputy on Interstate 41 northbound attempted to stop a vehicle for reckless driving near Lost Arrow Road. The driver failed to yield and increased speed as it continued north.
The pursuit entered the city of Fond du Lac when the vehicle exited onto Johnson Street, then continued onto Peters Avenue, Scott Street and Rolling Meadows Drive.
At County OO, the vehicle lost control at the curve and slid into the road shoulder, becoming immobile.
The driver, 37, and passenger, 35, both Milwaukee men, were taken into custody without further incident.
The passenger was released without any charges.
The driver is being held at Fond du Lac County Jail. The sheriff’s office said he had two warrants: one through Probation and Parole and one through Milwaukee County.
The pursuit, which lasted about 8.5 miles, resulted in no civilian or deputy injuries. However, a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office squad car was damaged.
Wisconsin State Patrol, North Fond du Lac Police Department and City of Fond du Lac Police Department assisted.
