Dec. 10—A 16-year-old Bloomfield girl who went missing two weeks ago has been found safe, the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office announced on Facebook Tuesday morning.
Kyana Perez is at a crisis center in Farmington after being found Monday night, San Juan County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Jarrod Slindee told the Journal.
Perez had been last seen in Bloomfield on Nov. 24.
“I am so happy that she was found,” Kyana’s mother, Christa Perez, told the Journal. “I didn’t sleep for the past 15 days. Last night, I was finally able to sleep knowing she was in a safe location.”
Kyana ran away from home on Nov. 24 after being upset when she was told she could not go to someone’s house, Christa Perez said.
Over the past couple of weeks, Christa Perez contacted every friend and family member. She said she even received Facebook messages with rumors of her daughter being harmed.
“I have never felt so desperate and scared,” she said.
This was the second time this year, Kyana left home. In July, she was found 10 hours after leaving, her mother said.
Christa Perez was expecting to see her daughter some time Tuesday evening.
“I just hope to give her a huge hug,” she said. “I just want to give her a hug and tell her I love her.”
