National Weather Service Meteorologist Chase Graham said that while ice will be melting throughout the day in Louisville Friday with temperatures nearing 50 degrees, warm weather will be short-lived as another cold front is expected to hit the area after the weekend.
“People need to prepare for another round of cold temperatures,” Graham said. “We’ll need to be bundled up, make sure people have all the supplies they might need for an extended period of cold weather Sunday through the middle of next week.”

Some precipitation expected around Louisville
Graham said some precipitation is expected in the coming days, beginning with rain Friday. As temperatures drop, some light snow is also possible Saturday night into Sunday.
“With this upcoming system, it looks like most of the moisture will be rain and we’re expecting to change over to a period of some light snow showers and flurries,” Graham said. “Right now, it looks like temperatures will be cold enough by mid to late afternoon on Saturday.”
He continued, saying the current storm system will bring more wind but less moisture.
“Because we don’t have a lot of moisture, we’re not expecting a whole lot of accumulation,” he said. “Maybe a dusting to a few tenths of an inch but still could see some light snow accumulations.”
