Morgan Wallen’s criminal charges reduced to misdemeanors ahead of Thursday plea hearing

Morgan Wallen is set to enter a plea to the criminal charges against him Thursday afternoon.

Wallen is accused of tossing a chair off the sixth floor of a Broadway bar in April, nearly striking a pair of police officers on the street below.

Judge Cynthia Chappell on Tuesday set a hearing for Wallen to enter a plea Thursday at 12:45 p.m.

Wallen’s case was just moved from general sessions court into criminal court on Tuesday. The charges against Wallen were reduced during that move, court records show.

Morgan Wallen performs during his One Night at a Time Tour concert at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., Thursday, May 2, 2024.

After his arrest, Wallen was charged with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, and three counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, a class E felony, the lowest level of felony. Wallen’s charges now consist of two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment without a weapon.

Wallen’s attorney Worrick Robinson didn’t respond to an email sent Wednesday afternoon.
