The Corpus Christi International Airport has opened a new Amazon “Just Walk Out” store, where passengers can grab essential travel items without checkout lines.
Using a palm scan — yes, your hand as a form of payment — or a credit/debit card, people can purchase snacks and drinks, and walk out.
Just Walk Out stores first launched in Seattle in 2022.
The new store is one of the recent additions to the airport. Future plans include additional locations for local businesses including Island Joe’s Coffee, Gulf Coast Capital Bar & Grill and Salty Oak BBQ.

By using artificial intelligence, cameras and sensors, stores can understand what customers are grabbing off the shelves and automatically charge them for their purchases.

Just Walk Out stores have also been the source of scrutiny. In April, USA Today reported at least one shopper said she was overcharged and charged for a wrong item.
