NWS warns Central Ohio could see 10 inches of snow on Sunday. How much is expected here?

A winter weather advisory issued by the National Weather Service for Muskingum, Guernsey, Tuscarawas, Coshocton and Noble counties expires at 10 a.m., but that doesn’t mean the snow will stop.

“Localized heavy snow showers are possible this afternoon, which could result in low visibility and a quick accumulation of snow on roads,” the weather service’s Pittsburgh office advised in a hazardous weather outlook for east central Ohio.

In addition, a “widespread, impactful accumulating snow is likely Sunday night andMonday with low pressure,” but it’s uncertain what track the low pressure system will take and that will affect potential snowfall totals.

A winter storm watch issued by the National Weather Service in Wilmington Friday morning warns of five to 10 inches of possible snowfall and mixed precipitation coming to Columbus this weekend.

The watch will be in effect from Sunday morning to Monday evening for Union, Delaware, Champaign, Clark, Madison, Franklin, Licking, Greene, Fayette, Pickaway, Fairfield and Hocking counties.

The winter storm will likely cause roads to become slick and hazardous and make travel very difficult, according to NWS Wilmington.

Snow already blanketed much of the state Friday morning after overnight snow showers.
