Oklahoma City police have released the name of a teenage boy killed Friday during a shootout that left one suspect dead and an officer injured.
About 1:14 p.m., police were called to a domestic disturbance in the 6600 block of Bayberry Drive.
The Police Department said in a news release that as officers arrived at the home, “they immediately came under gunfire.”
The suspect, Jerry Yang, 43, also began firing at two juveniles inside the home, police said.
Both juveniles were struck by gunfire from Yang, police said. Abel Her, 15, died from his injuries. The other juvenile is expected to recover.
Police said as the gun battle continued, Yang “turned the gun on himself” and shot himself to death.
Yang’s gunfire also injured Justin Van Brunt, an officer with five years of service, police said. He is expected to recover.
Van Brunt, and another officer, Zachary Lucas, have been placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
