One man hospitalized; person arrested in Champaign stabbing

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — A man in Champaign was stabbed and a suspect has been arrested on Saturday.

At approximately 11:28 a.m. on Dec. 28, the Champaign Police Department dispatched to the report of an armed suspect near the 800 block of Crescent Drive. When officers arrived, they found a male victim who had been stabbed.

According to Joe Lamberson, the Department’s Assistant to the Chief of Police for Community Services, officers administered preliminary medical aid on scene before an ambulance transported the victim to a local hospital. The victim is currently in stable condition.

The individual suspected of stabbing the victim was arrested on scene. There is no information on what charges the arrested individual is currently facing. This situation is currently still under investigation.
