Palm Beach Post readers react to Trump cabinet nominees

Palm Beach Post readers respond: Stop abusing Trump nominees

America has to stop abusing our Cabinet nominees, judges. Pete Hegseth and others unjustly accused of criminal actions of a sexual nature should not be subjected once again to false charges and accusations. To do so is to subject them to the “Me Too” system of judgment and condemnation.

With the election in which Americans commandingly rejected this cancel culture mentality, we are done with this guilt by accusation. Americans who love justice, truth, and freedom will now have the authority and encouragement to stand up and aggressively defend the system of truth and justice which has always accompanied the Judeo-Christian ethics upon which this nation was founded.

God bless President Trump for taking advantage of our victory, quickly putting forth his nominees and his winning agenda – pounding the unrepentant Left with repeated jabs of the triumph of truth. Americans must follow his example, joining him in assertive measures carrying out his promised agenda. God bless Pete Hegseth, a sterling candidate with a record of high moral character and integrity, ideal for the job of defense secretary.

FBI background checks essential for Trump nominees

I strongly disagree with the letter that appeared in the Dec. 6 Post. Pete Hegseth should not be rejected for position of Secretary of Defense just for his disgusting history of public drunkenness, womanizing and fiscal irresponsibility but more importantly for the fact that he is completely unqualified for the job. He is definitely not a “sterling candidate.”

The nominees put forward by Trump and his team are obviously unvetted, as in the case of the disgraced Matt Gaetz for attorney general. Even Pam Bondi is a terrible choice for that position, given her history as a Trump sycophant. There are too many nominees to mention that have no business being in Cabinet positions. The FBI should be doing background checks on all of them.

Trump needs to put up better nominees

A recent letter writer tells us to stop abusing President-elect Donald Trump’s nominees, especially Pete Hegseth, who in her eyes is a sterling candidate. Did she also admonish his mother for the email she sent him a few years ago excoriating him for abusing women? And what about the woman who accused him and with whom he settled out of court? And what about his colleagues at Fox News, who were worried about his excessive drinking?

Does she also think Matt Gaetz is a paragon of virtue, who was investigated by the House of Representatives for having sex with a minor? While the writer has been busy God-blessing our incoming president, does she also think he, who has been condemned, tried and found guilty of, among other things, sexual abuse, is being unjustly abused by America? Since the writer’s busy invoking Judeo-Christian values, may I remind her that one of the most important is to love one’s neighbor as oneself. Has Donald Trump lived by this commandment?
