A 19-year-old Daytona Beach woman walking near DeLand was struck and killed by a vehicle shortly after midnight Wednesday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The pedestrian was hit at 12:38 a.m. at International Speedway Boulevard and Kepler Road.
According to investigating troopers, the Daytona woman was in the outside lane of International Speedway Boulevard when a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander traveling west toward DeLand struck her.
The woman was in the direct path of the vehicle driven by a 38-year-old man from DeLand, said Trooper Migdalisis Garcia.
The woman died at the scene of the crash. The driver from DeLand was not injured and remained on scene.
Troopers said the accident remains under investigation.
