Two juveniles have been arrested in connection with the shooting of a woman who confronted them outside a south Fort Collins home in October while they broke into her vehicle.
Fort Collins police responded to the reported shooting in the 700 block of Crown Ridge Lane about 1:20 a.m. Oct. 21, according to the initial news release. The woman told police she was woken up by a family member who said two people were breaking into her vehicle, which was parked outside.
When the woman went outside to confront them, one fired multiple gunshots, hitting the woman in the leg, according to police. She was taken to the hospital where she was treated for her injuries and released later that day.
Police arrested two juvenile males in connection with this case, according to a Tuesday news release. Police did not release their names due to their age.
One of the juveniles was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, a Class 2 felony; first-degree assault, a Class 3 felony; first-degree trespass into a vehicle, a Class 5 felony; and tampering with physical evidence, a Class 6 felony.
The other juvenile was arrested on suspicion of aggravated robbery with a gun, a Class 3 felony; accessory to a Class 1 or 2 felony, a Class 4 felony; attempted to commit a Class 3 felony, a Class 4 felony; possession of a handgun by a juvenile as a second offence, a Class 5 felony; and misdemeanor vehicle trespassing.
Both of these cases remain in the juvenile court system, Fort Collins Police Services spokesperson Brandon Barnes said.
