A man accused of committing an armed robbery at a Centreville Bank branch in Norwich has been arrested.
Shortly after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Norwich Police Dispatch received a report of an armed robbery at the Centreville Bank branch located at 40 High Street in Norwich.
Reporting parties stated the suspect was armed with a firearm, according to Norwich Police. Witnesses provided a description of the male suspect which was relayed to responding Norwich Police Patrol Officers. No injuries were reported at the bank.
Police arrested a man who allegedly robbed a Centreville Bank branch in Norwich at gunpoint Wednesday.
Patrol officers and detectives quickly responded to the area and located a man matching the witnesses’ description running from the bank.
The suspect was taken into custody following a short foot chase. He was identified as Santinho Samacau, 20, of Norwich.
Samacau was found to be in possession of a loaded semiautomatic handgun and a large amount of money along with other items associated with the robbery.
Samacau was charged with robbery in the first degree, larceny in the second degree, reckless endangerment in the first degree, criminal use of a firearm, threatening in the first degree, interfering with an officer, carrying a pistol without a permit and possession of a high-capacity magazine. Samacau was held on a $300,000 cash surety bond.
