A beloved canoeing business that championed the conservation of the Little Miami River is closing its Warren County location after 60 years.
Morgan’s Canoe & Outdoor Adventures, started by Bob and June Morgan in the 1960s, announced the news in a Facebook post Wednesday morning. The family-owned and operated business in Washington Township described the closing as a “huge win for conservation,” sharing that the Morgan family’s five properties and 25 acres of land along the Little Miami River have been acquired by the Little Miami Conservancy and Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
“This is a perfectly beautiful ending to our lifelong stewardship of the river. The legacy of this river and its importance to people and wildlife will live on through so many conservation efforts,” the online statement reads.
The Cincinnati-based Morgan family carries three generations of nature-lovers serving customers at the Warren County destination, as well as their location in Brookville, Indiana, along the Whitewater River.
“To our loyal customers and community: thank you for 60 amazing years. Together, we’ve created memories that will last a lifetime and helped ensure the Little Miami River remains a treasure for future generations,” the Facebook post reads.
The family’s Brookville location remains open.
