Radcliff man faces murder charges in death of 18-month-old in Elizabethtown

A Radcliff man is in custody and faces murder charges after the death of an 18-month-old who had been in his care.

According to court documents, Terrance Corbin, 20, was babysitting the young girl and her 3-year-old sibling Tuesday at an Elizabethtown home when he called the child’s mother a few hours later and said she wasn’t breathing normally.

Shortly after, first responders were contacted saying the girl was no longer breathing and she was transported to Baptist Health Hardin. They then airlifted her to Norton Children’s in Louisville and she was placed in intensive care.

Doctors said the girl had multiple fractures to the side and back of her skull with significant swelling and bleeding into her soft tissue which required at least one blood transfusion. She also had extensive bruising to her brain’s tissue and bleeding was identified in various parts of her brain.

Child abuse pediatrician Melissa Carrie said the child’s injuries were “the worst she has seen in her career,” court records show. The girl died Thursday and the arrest citation says Corbin “intentionally acted in a manner that resulted in the death.”
