The House Ethics Committee’s report on its investigation into allegations that then-Rep. Matt Gaetz engaged in sexual misconduct and illegal drug use has been released to the public.
The bipartisan committee, which investigated Gaetz for several years before his resignation from Congress in November, secretly voted earlier this month to make the report public. The panel was deadlocked on whether to do so when it initially voted last month.
Gaetz, who represented the western Florida Panhandle, quickly resigned last month after President-elect Donald Trump announced him as his pick for attorney general. But the scandal-plagued former congressman withdrew from consideration days later.
Gaetz has denied any wrongdoing. A separate Justice Department investigation into allegations that he engaged in sex trafficking concluded last year without bringing any charges against him.
