A 66-year-old Red Bluff man is facing felony drug charges after being pulled over for a traffic violation by a police officer on Dec. 22.
Red Bluff Police Officer Phil Johnston made the traffic stop on a 2000 Ford SUV around 12:19 a.m. on David Avenue in Red Bluff.
While making contact with the driver, Kenneth White, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, the officer reportedly observed drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle.
As additional officers arrived on scene to assist, a probable cause search of White and the vehicle took place.
During the search the officer allegedly located approximately a half an ounce of methamphetamine inside the vehicle, along with evidence of methamphetamine for sale.
White, who is a convicted felon for possessing a “hard-drug”, was placed under arrest and booked into the Tehama County Jail on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance for sale, transportation of a controlled substance for sale, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a suspended license and an arrest warrant.
Upon judicial review pursuant to state voter-approved Prop. 36, which went into effect Dec. 18, White was released from jail on a promise to appear in court on felony charges, according to the Red Bluff Police Department.
