RICHMOND — All state buildings are closed in Richmond today due to ongoing water contamination issues as a result of the snow storm. That includes the General Assembly Building and State Capitol.
State legislators are scheduled to gavel in for the start of the legislative session Wednesday at noon. It remains unclear what the plan is should the buildings continue to be closed.
The winter storm caused a power outage at Richmond’s water plant, which caused the city’s reservoir system to malfunction. Richmond Mayor Danny Avula said that water pressure should be restored to the city sometime Tuesday afternoon, but the boil water advisory implemented Monday is still in effect and could continue for another 48 hours.
