Santa Claus rescued from side of 13-story building during CT holiday event

A man dressed as Santa Claus was rescued from the side of a 13-story building over the weekend during a holiday event in Norwalk.

Fire crews responded to 50 Washington St. at 6:36 p.m. on Saturday on the report of an individual who was stuck on the side of a building about 60 feet off the ground, according to the Norwalk Firefighters Local 830.

The individual dressed as Santa was rappelling down the building during the Norwalk Holiday Extravaganza when part of his costume became entangled in the rigging, leaving him unable to descend any further, fire officials said.

Rescue crews from the Norwalk Fire Department made contact with the individual from a sixth-floor window and were able to attach a safety line to him that was anchored inside the building. After removing a window, crews were able to get the victim inside the building, fire officials said.

No injuries were reported.
